Batter Up!
A Baseball Birthday Party That's Right Out Of The Park!

Throwing a baseball birthday party doesn't mean you have to turn your entire home into Yankee Stadium!

Just have a look at these ideas and tips to see how you can turn the love of a favorite sport into the best Baseball Birthday Party ever!!

Invites

There's nothing party-goers quite hold onto like a good invitation – or in this case, a good ticket for the main gate! Let your birthday guests know that they're invited to your little baseball stadium with some fun, creative invitations.

Have a little fun with these. Instead of "invitations," print "tickets" for everyone, letting them know that they're invited to the box suite, and the price is on the house!

Here's a template for a baseball "ticket" invitation:

Take me out to the Ball Game!
Box suite available for [guest's name] on [time and date].
Join our party for [your child's name]'s birthday.
Party games, snacks, hot dogs, and fun.
To contact the ticket office, get in touch with [your name] at [phone number] and let us know if you can attend.

For a little extra fun, include some creative "fine print," such as "While this ticket is not an absolute guarantee of a good time, we are 100% confident that you will have fun at this party."

Decorations

Decorating for a baseball birthday party can involve a lot of creativity – particularly if you've got a backyard that can double as a baseball field.

Try these ideas:

  • In the backyard, hang a banner on your home stating "Welcome to [your child's name] Field"
  • You can set up a mini baseball diamond for playing a short game later on.
  • If you've designated a party room inside your home, decorate the walls with any type baseball memorabilia. Hang your favorite jersey, posters of your favorite players or any other baseball related items.
  • Balloons and streamers always add to the life of any party.

Crafts / Activities

There are tons of ways to make your baseball birthday party even better and making crafts is a great place to start.

If there's one thing that sports minded little athletes love, it's creating stuff from nothing. We're here to help you come up with some ideas of what you can have them do.

Use these baseball birthday party crafts to make your party as fun as it can possibly be:

  • Make the very first activity at your party a decoration making activity. Using construction paper, have the kids design baseball or gloves and cut them out to hang on the walls.

  • Have some cupcakes pre-made but not decorated. Let the kids decorate their own cupcakes to look like baseballs. Make sure you supply enough decorating supplies to let their imaginations soar.

  • Have you guests sign a baseball for the birthday child.
When all is said and done, your little baseball birthday party is that much more fun for everyone. Now it's time to move on to the games...

Have a great time!

Games

One of the great parts about a baseball birthday party....the party games are a breeze!

Here are a couple of ideas to help you get started:

  • A game of...baseball! - With the baseball diamond in your backyard or – failing a backyard, a park – you can start up a baseball game. To spice it up, try to buy some cheap hats with two colors and divide them up into teams. Ask them to name their own teams and call it the "World Series."
  • "Scouting drills" - You can add an egg toss to the mix and call it a scouting drill. Tell the kids that you're going to act as a professional major league scout and that you want to see how good their ball-handling skills are. Then, pair them up and have them do an egg toss. Pretend to coach them about "soft hands" and they'll feel motivated to perform well. Give some prizes to the pair that lasts the longest.

Costumes / Props

Party costumes for baseball are typically easy, especially if your child is already on a baseball team.

But if you want to go all out, you can have all of your guests bring their favorite baseball jerseys and have a few hats ready to hand out to kids without jerseys. For your own son or daughter, pretend it's Halloween.

Halloween?

Yes!

When you dress up your son or daughter as a baseball player on Halloween, you go all out, including a jersey, a bat, black lines under the eyes, a cap, and baseball pants. Why not bring out the old costume for the birthday party as well?

Food and Drink

Hot Dogs! Get Your Hot Dogs Here!

Of course, no baseball birthday party would be complete without hot dogs, but if you want to go for that authentic major-league feel, you can't serve them on a plate.

Instead, prepare the hot dogs while they're playing games and wrap them in aluminum foil – just like at a baseball game. Make sure to try and toss the hot dogs to the kids as a unique way of serving them.

For other snacks, incorporate other major-league themed snacks like:

  • Peanuts
  • Cracker Jacks
  • Big-league Chew. Great for during the party games?

Just be sure to check with all parents ahead of time before serving anything with peanuts...for allergy reasons.

Cake

After fun at the "World Series" in your back yard, your party guests will be ready to celebrate with a cake.

Make sure the baseball birthday cake includes designs of your child's favorite player or team.

To have a cake baked this way, be sure and contact your local bakery a few weeks ahead of time so that you'll know you'll have it on time.

If you want to bake your own cake, try tackling a simple design like a giant baseball – use white frosting and stitch it with red frosting.

Party Favors / Loot Bags

Preparing a loot bag for this type of party is quite simple.

Include items such as whistles, baseball tattoos, package of "Big League Chew" gum, mini baseball, baseball bat pens, etc. The sky is the limit!
