Childrens Birthday Party Games That'll Keep Things Moving
Childrens birthday party games are great for keeping things moving along in a smooth, orderly fashion.
Keeping the kids busy with games they'll consider fun is the "Number 1" factor to throwing a successful kids birthday party.
We suggest you start things off slowly with something quiet, then ramp it up with one or two more active games and finish off with a final quiet game to calm things down again.
In order to help you prevent things from turning into hair pulling, child screaming chaos, we've put together some popular childrens birthday party games for you below.
- What Animal Am I - Not only is this a great learning game for kids just learning about animals, but it's also very fun too.
Hand out some sticker with pictures of animals or print out some animal clip-art and have the kids imitate the animal they receive.
- Catch the Balloon - Played indoors, have the kids stand in a circle. Have them count out and remember their own number.
Starting with the birthday boy/girl standing in the middle of the circle holding a balloon, have them call out a random number while dropping the balloon. Whoever had that number at the beginning of the game is to try and catch the balloon before it touches the floor. If the player is successful, the child in the center of the circle tries a different number. If the balloon reaches the floor before it is caught, the child who did not reach it in time is now in the center.
- Obstacle Course - Played outside, these are great for summer parties. Try these obstacles when putting together your custom course:
- Walk the line (balance on a winding garden hose or along a string).
- Crawl under lawn furniture.
- Walk with a ball between your knees or water balloon between your elbows.
- Crawling through tire swing.
Use your imagination and build obstacles using lawn furniture, balls, skipping ropes, and even existing play structures. Add special challenges by including water from sprinklers or wading pools.
- Dress-up Relay - Make 2 separate piles of the same kind and number of pieces of clothing. Separate the children into 2 teams and have the first player from each team race to dress up in all the clothes from their own pile. Once finished, they must remove all of the clothes and the next player from their team has their turn. Whichever team dresses and undresses first wins the game.
This short list above of childrens birthday party games is only the beginning. With your help, we can build a resourceful listing of games for kids to play at any birthday party.

More of a craft idea than a game, but still an activity nevertheless, is to lay out a bunch of picture frames you picked up at your local dollar store....
